Structured Sale of Large Wine Collections

Off-market. Carefully documented. Handled professionally from start to finish.

Large wine collections rarely find the exit they deserve. Too often, sellers are pushed toward quick trade offers at significant discounts, regardless of provenance, storage quality, or years of careful collecting.

Lafleur Wines, in partnership with Mencey Capital Management SA, a Geneva-based portfolio manager, connects serious sellers and buyers through a clear transaction process designed to reduce value leakage and offer a more credible alternative to many traditional sale routes.

Preserving Value at Every Stage

More Than a Buyer

Selling a serious collection raises questions: provenance, traceability, lot structure, and transaction security. Without the right framework, sellers face steep discounts from intermediaries who rely on complexity to justify their position.

Transparent Economics

Traditional networks use layered fees or wholesale repurchase models. Our transparent commission structure preserves far more value for both buyer and seller, with no hidden margins on either side.

Syndicated Sales

Placing several coherent six-figure clusters is often easier than a single seven-figure block. A syndicated structure widens the pool of buyers and avoids the leverage that comes with relying on a single transaction.

A more direct route between seller and buyer, with less value lost in between.

From first conversation to structured settlement, a clean and professional process.

01  Initial Review. You share a summary of the collection, whether as a list, screenshots, invoices, or cellar export. No commitment required at this stage.

02  Valuation & Strategy. We assess the collection's composition, marketability, provenance profile, cluster segmentation, and likely sale routes.

03  Provenance Review. We examine storage history, continuity, purchase records, and documentation to maximise buyer confidence and protect value.

04  Buyer Positioning. Rather than risking open-market exposure, we present the collection selectively to relevant private buyers and market participants.

05  Structured Execution. Once terms are agreed, the transaction is coordinated through a formalised process designed to bring clarity and control to both sides.

06  Completion. Once all conditions are met, the sale is completed and the seller receives one clean, secure payment. No loose ends.

How the Payment Process Works

For many sellers, the issue is not only price. It is also confidence that the transaction will be handled in a serious and orderly manner.

Lafleur Wines manages the wine side of the process: collection review, valuation, provenance and documentation assessment, buyer discussions, and coordination of the sale.

Mencey Capital Management SA adds an institutional layer to the framework, helping structure onboarding, execution, and payment within a more formal and controlled environment than a standard private cellar sale. Funds remain securely held within the process until all conditions have been met and the transaction is cleared for completion. Sellers receive one clean payment at closing.

Why Sellers Work With Lafleur

Lafleur Wines combines market knowledge, buyer access, and hands-on collection experience with a discreet, high-touch approach tailored to serious sellers. We help bring clarity to questions such as:

  • How should the collection be valued in the current market?

  • Should it be sold as a whole, by clusters, or in selected tranches?

  • Which provenance elements are most important to buyers?

  • How should the collection be presented in order to protect value and credibility?

  • What is the most intelligent route to market?

Our role is not simply to move stock. It is to help present and sell a collection in a way that protects both value and confidence.

What Happens After the Sale?

Mencey's role ends at settlement. Lafleur remains responsible for the physical wine lifecycle and logistics thereafter.

Once a transaction is completed, onward logistics can be coordinated according to the buyer's needs, whether that means continued bonded storage, transfer to another professional facility, or physical delivery.

As a seller, you do not need to manage that complexity yourself. Our role is to help ensure the collection moves from one serious custodian to the next in a controlled and professional manner.

A More Direct Route Between Seller and Buyer

This service is designed for:

  • Private collectors looking to sell all or part of a significant cellar

  • Families or estates managing inherited wine collections

  • Investors seeking an orderly exit from fine wine positions

  • Advisers acting on behalf of clients with professionally stored collections

Whether your collection is concentrated in Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne, Italy, California, or a mix of blue-chip wines, the key question is not simply what it is worth on paper, but how it can be brought to market intelligently.
