Calculate Real Returns from a Curated Fine Wine Portfolio
Fine wine has quietly outperformed many traditional asset classes for decades - but results depend entirely on which bottles you hold. This calculator references the wines that Lafleur reccomends in his portfolios.

Global Demand &
Growth Trends
The fine wine market is no longer limited to traditional buyers in Europe and the US. Over the last two decades, collectors and investors in Asia and the Middle East have become key players, creating powerful global demand. This shift has helped shape the global wine market, as more buyers compete for specific wines and support long term profit potential for a well built wine investment portfolio.
As the industry continues to expand, increased participation supports liquidity, transparency, and long term pricing. This growth strengthens the case for wine as a serious asset class within a global investment business framework, especially for those seeking a safe haven for money when other markets are unstable. These Aren't Hypothetical Returns - They're Lafleur's Actual Selections
Most wine investment calculators rely on broad market indices. This one works differently. Every bottle featured in this tool has been carefully selected using Lafleur Wine Investment's sourcing criteria, and the figures you see reflect realistic acquisition prices measured against where those same bottles trade on the market today.
When you adjust the regional sliders or build a custom portfolio, you're not exploring an average. You're exploring the outcome of educated, relationship-driven curation across six of the world's finest wine regions, the same approach Lafleur brings to every private client portfolio.

Why Fine Wine Works as an Investment
Fine wine occupies a rare position in the alternative asset landscape. It is tangible, scarce.
A few things work in its favour structurally:
Supply only ever contracts. Every bottle consumed permanently reduces the available stock of a given vintage. The 2008 Armand Rousseau Chambertin Clos de Bèze, acquired in Lafleur's 15-year portfolio at €246 per bottle, now trades at over €2,035 - in part because there is simply less of it.
Scarcity is amplified by provenance. Bottles from celebrated producers in exceptional vintages carry a collector premium that compounds over time in ways that generic index instruments cannot capture.
Selection is everything. The difference between a well-chosen bottle and an indifferent one, over 15 years, can be extraordinary. Emmanuel Rouget's Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux 2008 was acquired at €210; it trades today above €2,109 - a return of over 900%. That outcome wasn't luck. It was expertise.
A World of Fine Wine, Selectively Chosen
The six regions in this calculator represent the global centres of investment-grade wine. Each carries a different risk and return profile - and within each region, Lafleur's selection process targets the bottles most likely to appreciate meaningfully over time.
Burgundy
Highest return potential; greatest producer dispersion.
Standout: Emmanuel Rouget Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux 2008 - +904% over 15 years
Bordeaux
Broadest selection; reliable blue-chip names.
Standout: Château Figeac Saint-Émilion 2005 - +203% over 15 years
Champagne
Prestige cuvées with strong collector demand.
Standout: Salon Cuvée S Le Mesnil 2002 - +255% over 10 years
Piedmont
Italy's finest; Barolo and Barbaresco leaders.
Standout: Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Monvigliero 2010 - +957% over 10 years
Tuscany
Super-Tuscans and Brunello with global reach.
Standout: Soldera Case Basse Brunello di Montalcino 2007 - +376% over 10 years
USA - Napa
Cult Californian Cabernets with proven demand.
Standout: Harlan Estate Napa Valley 2010 - +76% over 10 years
The variation within regions matters as much as the variation between them. Burgundy in particular demonstrates the widest spread between exceptional selections and average market performance - precisely where Lafleur's curation adds the most value.
Who This Tool Is For
his calculator was built for three kinds of visitor, and all three will find something useful here.
If you're a portfolio investor looking to diversify beyond equities, property, or bonds - the regional view gives you a clear picture of how a fine wine allocation, managed with expertise, has behaved over different time horizons. Fine wine's low correlation with traditional assets makes it a meaningful addition to a balanced portfolio, not a peripheral one.
If you're a wine enthusiast who already collects - you may find that some of the bottles you've been buying for pleasure have been quietly appreciating as investments. The custom portfolio builder lets you explore the investment case for individual producers and vintages you already know.
If you're new to alternative assets and curious about fine wine as an option - this is the clearest starting point available. The figures are real, the methodology is transparent, and there is no obligation to go further than curiosity takes you.
Whenever you're ready to explore what a real portfolio could look like for your situation - investment level, time horizon, and regions of interest - Lafleur is available for a private, no-pressure conversation.

About the Data
All performance figures in this calculator are based on wines sourced, acquired, and tracked by Lafleur Wine Investment. Acquisition prices reflect the market value of each wine within the stated investment window. Current valuations are based on prevailing market prices as tracked by Lafleur at the time of publication. Three investment horizons are modelled for illustrative purposes: 5-year, 10-year, and 15-year periods, using historical market data for each respective entry point. Regional portfolio returns are calculated as a weighted average of Lafleur-selected wines within that region for the chosen period.
Past performance does not guarantee future returns. Fine wine investment involves risk and carries liquidity considerations.
