Fine Wine Investment Calculator

The Regional Portfolio gives you a broad overview. You enter a total investment amount, set your preferred % split across up to six regions, and the calculator shows what a blended portfolio in those regions would have returned over your chosen period, based on the exact wines Lafleur selected. The Custom Portfolio Builder goes deeper. Instead of allocating by region, you handpick individual wines from Lafleur's full list of 360, specify how many cases of each you want, and see the performance of each wine alongside your total portfolio return. It's designed for people who want to explore specific producers and vintages rather than a regional blend.

The three periods (5 years from 2021, 10 years from 2016, and 15 years from 2011) represent how long ago the wines were acquired. The calculator compares Lafleur's general acquisition price at that point in time against the current market value of the same wines. So when you select "10 years," you're seeing real historical data from bottles sourced in 2016, not a forward-looking projection.

Not manually. The calculator normalises your inputs to 100% automatically. So if you enter 40% Burgundy and 40% Bordeaux, the tool will treat that as a 50/50 split. You'll see a live "Total Allocation" figure as you adjust the percentages so you can dial in exactly the weighting you want before calculating.

Current Value reflects what your selected portfolio would be worth today based on live market prices for the specific wines Lafleur chose. Paired with "Total Invested," this gives you your Total Gain/Loss in your chosen currency and a Total Return % so you can see at a glance how the portfolio has appreciated over the selected period.

Select your investment period, then click + Add Wine to browse and select individual wines from Lafleur's catalogue of 360. For each wine, you specify how many cases you want to include. The calculator then shows each wine's case value, individual performance, and how it contributes to your overall portfolio, alongside a donut chart of your allocation and a bar chart breaking down performance by region.

You can view results in USD ($), GBP (£), EUR (€), or CHF (Fr). The currency selector is available in both the Regional Portfolio and the Custom Portfolio Builder, so you can model returns in whichever currency is most relevant to you.

Portfolio Allocation is a donut chart that visualises how your investment is distributed across regions, useful for checking you've built the geographic spread you intended. Performance Breakdown is a bar chart showing the return % for each region individually, so you can see at a glance which parts of your portfolio drove the most growth.

The Custom Portfolio Builder draws from a catalogue of 360 individual wines, spanning Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Piedmont, Tuscany, and Napa Valley. These are all wines that Lafleur has personally selected, sourced, and tracked. They aren't market index wines; they're the exact bottles Lafleur has acquired for client portfolios.
